This short movie shows how to assign Categories to files automatically when they are added to the Vault.
Be aware that assignment rules are applied in the order that they appear in the "Assignment Rules" dialogue box. You can use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons to change the order the rules are applied.
Upgrade "in-place", all three sites to VC2011 RTM. ("In-place", means just run the VP2011 installation and allow it to uninstall VM2010). When prompted at each installer’s end, do *NOT* open ADMS console to migrate databases.
Install SP1 then SP2 *without* opening ADMS console to migrate any.
Migrate DB from one of the ADMS console (preferably one closest to SQL)
If you need to add a new site or if you have applied Vault <family> 2010 Update 2, please see this solution
Vault 2011 Update 2 does not consume Update 1. This means that you must install Update 1 before installing Update 2.
You can install Update 1 and then when prompted to start the ADMS Console, to migrate, chose no. This will save a little time. If you then install Update 2 and runthe ADMS Console you will only need to migrate the databases once.
This also applies to Vault 2010 Update 1 and Update 2
I created this short movie that shows how to insert an AUTOCAD DWG's filename into the file.
The AutoCAD command to be used (if it is not clear at in the video) is "FIELD"
This came from a case where a customer was using a Diesel Expression to display the filename. This worked, to some degree, but the problem arose when they tried to publish the DWF within Vault or by using the Job Server. Instead, it displayed some of the diesel expression instead ($(GETVAR.??)).
If you see that the position of 3D DWF visualization files are out of alignment, wrongly positioned when you view them in your web browser from the web client. It might be caused by the graphics driver.
You can change the OpenGL settings by right clicking on the DWF and selecting Options>Model. Then change the Driver to another one such as "Software OpenGL".
NOTE To prevent this type of problem and other, as yet, unknown problems, Autodesk recommends that the SQL Service runs as a Domain User account instead of a local Windows service account.
After installing Update 2 in a replicated environment, a migration error may appear after running the ADMS Console afterwards.
Cannot create a sub-directory under the snapshot folder (if not exist "<path to shared folder>\AUTODESKVAULT_KNOWLEDGEAVAULTMASTER_ADMSKNOWLEDGEVAULTMASTER\UserScripts"md
"<path to shared folder>\AUTODESKVAULT_KNOWLEDGEAVAULTMASTER_ADMSKNOWLEDGEVAULTMASTER\UserScripts").
Ensure there is enough disk space available, and that the account under which the Snapshot Agent runs has permissions to create a sub-directoy under the snapshot folder.
