There is a very useful and informative document posted on the Autodesk Website that goes into great detail about how properties work in Vault 2011 (and later).

Is It Possible To Edit The Username For A User Imported From A Domain

You would like to know if it is possible to edit the User Name field for a user that was imported from a Windows Domain.

It is not possible to edit the First Name, Last Name, User Name, Email or Password fields from the Vault User Management dialogue box. This needs to be executed from Windows Active Driectory.

The Vaulty UserName field will include the <Domainname>\<ADSUserName> format until the user is demoted from the Domain.

 

Procedure For Applying Vault Server Hotfixes in a Multi-Site and Connected Workgroup Environment

Traditionally, Vault Server hotfix readme's have not included precise steps to install the hotfix in a replicated (Filestore only and Filestore\SQL Replication environment. Since this was brought to our attention, we have started to include more detailed instructions in the newer hotfixes. We are planning to update the already published readme's and they should be the first point to look for the precise install instructions. However, in their absence, please follows these steps.

Hotfix Installation – applied to every Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS).

1. Reset the web service by typing 'iisreset' at the command prompt.
2. Run tsxxxxxxx on the ADMS server to install the hotfix.
3. Repeat the preceding steps for every ADMS server.
4. Open ADMS Console and migrate all unmigrated databases and libraries before proceeding.
   1. NOTE: It is sufficient to utilize a single ADMS Console on;
      1. Multi Site (file replication)
      2. Connected Workgroup (file and SQL replication) on a Publisher Workgroup ONLY
5. Close the ADMS Console application.

Database Update – applied ONCE from one Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) as specified.

1. WARNING: DO NOT PROCEED until the hotfix has been successfully applied on ALL ADMS servers.
2. It is sufficient to utilize a single ADMS server on;
   1. Multi Site (file replication)
   2. Connected Workgroup (file and SQL replication) on a Publisher Workgroup ONLY
3. Open a command prompt and navigate to the installed location of Connectivity.ADMSConsole.exe.
4. Run ADMS b2bmigrate operation in command line mode:
   1. Example: Connectivity.ADMSConsole.Exe -Ob2bmigrate -VUadministrator -VPadmin_password -DBUsql_user -DBPsql_password
   2. NOTE: Replace 'admin_password' with the appropriate administrator password for the -VP switch.
   3. The last two command line parameters are required only if the 'sa' password is not the default password.
5. A 'migration successful' dialog will display when the b2bmigrate operation has completed.
6. Open the Autodesk Data Management Server console and begin a Rebuild Search Indexes.

Error 1313 "BOM links and revisions could not be retrieved"

Support has received a number of reports of this message in Vault Professional 2012 when clicking on the Bill of Materials tab on an Item.

Is SP1 for SQL Server 2008 R2 supported with Vault Server 2012?

Microsoft recently published the SP1 for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (Editions Standard, Enterprise, Express).

At this stage SP1 for MS SQL Server 2008 R2 is not supported with Vault Server 2012 until further notice.

Vault Support for Windows 7 SP1

No version of Vault currently supports Windows 7 SP1.

However, Autodesk is currently investigating support of Windows 7 SP1 with Vault 2012

Why Do I Get Extra Properties After Migrating from Productstream 2009 to Vault Professional 2011

After migrating from an earlier release to Vault Professiional 2011, you may notice an additional properties appear suffix with an 01.

If you have two identically named (Item and File) properties, when they are migrated to Vault Professional 2011 they are combined into one property Associated to both File and Items.

However, if you have two identically named properties that have different Data Types, when they are migrated there will be two properties. The file property will retain the same name but the Item property will have an 01 added to the end of the property name.

 

(UPDATED) Why does my Inventor assembly always need updating\saving when there has been no change to it?

Some time ago, I posted some observations based on a support case I had worked on. It was to hopefully go some way to explaining why some files seem to always need updating. It was called "Why does my Inventor assembly always need updating\saving when there has been no change to it?"

We have posted an alternative workaround\workflow to accomodate environments where you really need to save and edit assemblies in Library folders.in the updated section at the bottom.
