During the installation of Vault 2012 Update 1 (Autodesk Vault 2012 Update 1 (Client).msp) you see this error.
Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.msi\XXXXXX.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor.
This is caused by a problem with the "Connectivity.Branding.Vault.dll" file and reports indicate that this particular message is only occurring with plain Vault installed from one of the new suites. The dll is not present with the licenced versions of Vault and so we have no reports of this happening with Vault Workgroup, Collaboration or Professional clients.
UPDATE 02/11/2011
We have reproduced this internally and Autodesk is working on a solution that avoids the problem. Initially a solution was identified to replace the above mentioned dll with another version, However this could have unforeseen side effects and we would suggest that you wait until a formal solution is in place. We appreciate your patience.
We also are seeing reports of a different install error occurring with the licenced versions of Vault, but with different dll files. So far have not reproduced this internally. If you are experiencing the issue with a different dll, please log a support case with Autodesk.
Update 30/11/2011
This issue should be addressed by ts18131263

Workgroup & Professional (and presumably Collaboration) don't have a "Connectivity.Branding.Vault.dll" file
What now?

Hi Richard,
Just an FYI. You have the wrong date on your update notice.

I have installed the server Update 1 and am now trying to install the client Update 1, but I am getting this message.
"Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid."
Any fix for this?

Hi Mark, previous reports of this error have indicated a problem with the operating system that can only be fixed with manual registry editing. This is quite a risky thing to do, so we dont publish any solutions on the web. I'd recommend that you log a support case directly with us via subscription center.

If you already has patched the vault server (standard) and can't apply SP1 to the clients.
Could you run with this until you come with a solution?

Hi Mike,
Yes you can, but if you install Vault Server 2012 Update 1, you will need to log in to the Vault 2012 Server ADMSConsole and migrate the databases before any non-Update 1 clients can connect.

Hi Mike
We are still waiting for the fix for the client side of update 1. Have you got any new information about it?

Thanks Richard!
Saw that I wrote wrong name just when I pressed "Post" yesterday....
Even if the "Published date" states 30 nov, it was not there yesterday...
Anyway, problem solved!
