Error 1328. When Applying Vault 2012 Update 1

During the installation of Vault 2012 Update 1 (Autodesk Vault 2012 Update 1 (Client).msp) you see this error.

Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.msi\XXXXXX.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor.

This is caused by a problem with the "Connectivity.Branding.Vault.dll" file and reports indicate that this particular message is only occurring with plain Vault installed from one of the new suites. The dll is not present with the licenced versions of Vault and so we have no reports of this happening with Vault Workgroup, Collaboration or Professional clients.

UPDATE 02/11/2011

We have reproduced this internally and Autodesk is working on a solution that avoids the problem. Initially a solution was identified to replace the above mentioned dll with another version, However this could have unforeseen side effects and we would suggest that you wait until a formal solution is in place. We appreciate your patience.

We also are seeing reports of a different install error occurring with the licenced versions of Vault, but with different dll files. So far have not reproduced this internally. If you are experiencing the issue with a different dll, please log a support case with Autodesk.

How To...Index IDE iFeature iProperties

If you need to index iFeature iProperties (.ide) in 2011, here is a handy tip.

On the server:-

Edit the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\ADMS Professional 2012\Server\Components\ProviderConfig_Inventor.xml" file in Notepad.

If you need to read\write to the value from a Vault client, on the Vault Client

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Vault Professional 2012\Explorer\ProviderConfig_Inventor.xml"

Just add the ",.ide" file extension to the FileTypes Supported section.

You will need to restart the web serrvice on the server (IISRESET). 

After restarting the webservice you will need to reindex properties to Index all Vaulted files or check new files in. The .ide file extension will then appear as a recognised Provider.

 

GetItemProperties() There is an error in the XML document.

When trying to Export Items over to SAP using the Autodesk Vault Professional 201x Integration for SAP, (RMB on the Item>SAP>Create SAP Material), you see this message.

In the Vault-SAP Interface Log is the following error.

Error on checkOutDocument() 1003

and

Field 'Title (Item,CO)' not found!

This is caused because of a mismatch between the servers Web.config setting and the clients config setting. To mirror the setting in the server config file, this can be addressed by adding the following line in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Vault Professional 2011\Explorer\Connectivity.VaultPro.exe.config". maxMimeParts="1024" serverMode="optional" />

Vault Language Support

Its worth mentioning, every now and then, the importance of ensuring that the Vault that you have installed is supported. The Vault System Requirements and the localised Readme files (link to the Vault Pro 2012 Readme) assume that the languages of tall the major components are all the same (ie same Language OS, SQL and Vault). So thinking at a level above that.... 

There have been a number of support cases I have worked on recently that could have been avoided if it was understood that the localised Vault Server (French, Italian, German, Russian etc) might install OK on an English language operating system, but Autodesk would not test against that and more importantly, its not supported. So referring to TS1093327

• English OS + English Vault Server is supported
• Local OS + English Vault Server is supported
• Local OS + (Same language) as the Application
• English OS + Local Vault Server is not supported
• English OS + Local Language Pack + Local Vault Server is not supported

Inventor 2011 SP2 Break Auto-Silent Login (UPDATED)

We have had reports from a couple of customers installing Inventor 2011 SP2, and using Windows Authentication, that it brings back the problem fixed by DL15651099. The issue was also reported on this blog here: Cracking the Vault

This issue is now addressed with Hotfix DL17369066

The Database Transaction Log is Full and Cannot Be Grown.

When trying to replicate a library from the ADMS Console, a message appeared:-

 

Error

The database tracnsaction log is full and cannot be grown. Please check for available disk space.

After checking that there is enough disk space on the disk, start the SQL Management Console and check the settings. Compare the settings for the the errant database with those of another system. In particular pay attention to the Database Settings Autogrowth on the Files page. Ensure that Autogrowth is enabled and unrestricted.

Error Message in specific Vault Databases appear in ADMS console after enabling Replication

You have successfully enabled the database and filestore replication inside your Vault Collaboration/Professional environment.

However if you click inside ADMS console on the related Vault...

...you get an error pop up instead of the information of the Vault (such as Create Date, File Store Location, Database Size etc.):
