Regularly restore backups from your production Vault Server to:-
- Test the validity of the Vault backup (to check that there are no restore errors and to check that all the files are present). One recent support scenario revealed that although regular Vault Backups were being taken and the backup validation completed successfully, each file in the Filestore was immediately quarantined then deleted by the Antivirus checker. This continued unnoticed for months until a catastrophic event on the Vault Server prompted the need to use the last known “good” backup. (It was discovered that a Vault backup that should have been 100GB in size was just 1GB as the backup Filestore was empty.)
- To familiarize yourself with the process and to understand how long it will take to copy and restore data to and from your production Vault Server.

System backup software package is really how easy it is to install. Many companies have been caught with software that they didn't install or waited so long that their operating system was updated before they got around to it.
